ABOUT THE VAULT
Midnight Whiskey was founded in 2025 to solve a problem every serious collector knows: the bottles worth owning are the ones you cannot find. Lottery allocations, retail theater, gray market risk, counterfeit Macallan — the system rewards luck over expertise. We built the vault as the alternative.
Sourcing
Every bottle arrives through one of three channels: direct distillery allocation relationships, verified private collector networks, and authenticated secondary market acquisitions. We do not list a bottle until provenance is documented. If we cannot trace it, we do not sell it. This rule has cost us inventory. It has never cost us a customer.
AUTHENTICATION
Every bottle entering the vault passes an eight-point authentication inspection before it is listed. Bottles that fail any checkpoint are rejected and returned to the source.
- Federal tax strip — adhesion, alignment, and intact serial registration
- Capsule — color and finish matched to the expression and release year
- Glass mold code — cross-referenced against the documented release year
- Fill level — measured against stated volume for the format
- Label — adhesion, print registration, and paper stock
- Cork and closure — condition, compression, and seal integrity
- Dust and oxidation pattern — consistent with the claimed age for vintage releases
- Batch and barrel numbers — cross-referenced for internal consistency across label, capsule, and carton
Where provenance cannot be documented, we do not list the bottle.
