What makes Clase Azul Blanco Ahumado different from the standard Plata?
Both are blanco (unaged) tequilas from 100% Blue Weber agave, but the Ahumado's agave is slow-cooked in underground pit ovens lined with firewood and volcanic stone, which gives it a gentle, smoky character the masonry-oven Plata does not have. It is double-distilled in copper, left unaged, and bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof) versus the standard 40%.
Is Clase Azul Blanco Ahumado as smoky as a mezcal?
No. The pit-roasting adds a subtle, refined smoke meant to complement the bright blue Weber agave rather than dominate it, so it reads as a crisp blanco tequila with a light smoke thread, gentler than most mezcals. It shows smoked agave, fresh herbs, citrus, and earthy minerality, with a clean, lightly smoky finish.
