Whose whiskey is in Pride of Anderson County?
Wild Turkey Distillery distillate, and unusually for an independently bottled bourbon, the brand says so itself. Rare Bird 101 — the Wild Turkey historian David Jennings, who created the brand with Rare Character Whiskey — describes the project as dedicated to what the Wild Turkey Distillery has to offer, naming the rickhouses that supplied early releases and the distillery personnel who set those barrels aside. Midnight Whiskey names the distillery on that basis, not on collector inference.
Why are the strength and age hand-written on the bottle?
Because each bottle comes from a single barrel and is bottled at that barrel's own strength, uncut and unfiltered. There is no house figure to print. Two bottles inspected for this listing carried the same stated age and different strengths, which is exactly what a single-barrel programme should produce — read your own lower label for the figures that describe your bottle.
Who is Rare Bird 101?
David Jennings, an author and historian best known for documenting Wild Turkey. He selected barrels through the distillery's private selection programme before founding Pride of Anderson County in 2022 with Rare Character Whiskey, and he curates the barrels that carry the name.
