This bottling began as a twelve-year-old in the standard Singleton regime and was then moved into rum casks for a secondary maturation of twenty-eight years, which is where the arithmetic of the forty-year age statement comes from. At the end of that period Malt Master Maureen Robinson married the whiskies in Solera casks that had previously held Zacapa XO and Zacapa Royal rum, a marrying stage intended to lift the dark chocolate and plum notes rather than to introduce them. It was bottled in 2023 at its natural strength of 45.9%, with no reduction, as the third and final release of the Epicurean Odyssey Series after a thirty-eight and a thirty-nine year old.
