What proof is Stagg Jr Batch 15?
At 131.1 proof (65.55% ABV), Batch 15 is bottled at full barrel strength and left unfiltered. Stagg Jr. bottles from this era show no batch number on the label, so the proof is the giveaway — 131.1 here, versus 130.9 for the later Batch 16. The strength is whatever the barrels yielded, with no water added.
What does Stagg Jr Batch 15 taste like?
Buffalo Trace's official notes for Batch 15 give vanilla bean and salted caramel on the nose; cherries, cinnamon, and oak on the palate; and a long finish of toasted vanilla, pepper, coffee, and a hint of sweet mint. Reviewers added butter toffee and creamy nougat, and several found it drier and darker than the fruitier earlier batches — a sign, to some, of older barrels. It was a Winter 2020 release at 131.1 proof.
