Why is GlenDronach 21 called Parliament?
A group of rooks is called a parliament, and a colony of them has nested in the trees overlooking the GlenDronach distillery for close to two hundred years. The expression is named after the birds rather than after anything governmental. It was introduced in 2011 as the oldest whisky in the distillery's core range.
What sherry casks is GlenDronach Parliament 21 matured in?
Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks from Spain, for a minimum of twenty-one years. GlenDronach matures in sherry wood rather than finishing in it, so the character builds across the whole maturation. The distillery's Aged 30 uses those same two styles and adds Amontillado — a first for the house — so the two expressions are not the same recipe at different lengths.
Is GlenDronach Parliament 21 non chill filtered?
It has long been published as non chill filtered and natural in colour, and most descriptions still say so. One account reports that the distillery introduced a degree of filtration after 2021 for consistency. Because bottles from either side of that change are in circulation, the label on the specific bottle is the reliable answer rather than a listing.
