What is The Macallan Distil Your World Mexico?
Distil Your World Mexico is the third release in The Macallan's Distil Your World series, made with the Roca brothers of El Celler de Can Roca and The Macallan Whisky Maker Diane Stuart. It is a Speyside single malt bottled at 48% ABV, matured in American and European oak casks, and built around Mexico's Day of the Dead festival. It was announced in November 2023 for select Macallan boutiques and retailers worldwide.
What does The Macallan Distil Your World Mexico taste like?
The official notes give a nose of sugared pan de muerto bread, creamy vanilla, and sweet pineapple, with fragrant marigold flowers and a hint of fresh green coriander. The palate is intensely sweet, carrying orange oil and chocolatey Mexican mole with charred pineapple, and the finish is sweet with a delicate note of charred coals. The Macallan names the colour Vibrant Marigold.
Why is the Distil Your World Mexico pack pink?
The Macallan states that the pink on the Distil Your World Mexico pack is drawn from the Day of the Dead festival and its traditions, symbolising joy and the celebration of life for the souls who have passed. The same pack carries artwork by illustrator Alfredo Rios and a three-dimensional marigold flower around the bottle.
