Created by The Macallan Whisky Maker Polly Logan with the Roca brothers of El Celler de Can Roca, twice named World's Best Restaurant.

Assembled from six European and American oak casks — a marriage chosen to carry the city's architecture, its delis and diners, and its street food into one pour.

Bottled at 49.5% ABV (99 proof) at the colour The Macallan names City sunrise, in an edition of 1,000 bottles.

Built on the apple note already native to The Macallan — a fitting choice for the Big Apple — then pushed toward American candy: peanut, chocolate, waffles, pecans.

Presented in a white case with the city in blue on the cover and a textured relief lining; a companion documentary premiered in New York on April 13, 2022 before going to YouTube.

The bottled editions run London, New York, Mexico, Hong Kong, Paris — five one-time portraits, none revisited. Counts published elsewhere sometimes say New York was the fourth chapter, and that is not an error so much as a different question: the wider Distil Your World programme also produced filmed chapters on Jerez and on The Macallan's own Scottish homeland, neither of which was ever bottled. On the shelf here it sits between the London edition that started the series and the 2023 Mexico chapter.

Two bottles, one cask, one charity

A separate single cask constituent of this blend — distilled 2002, bottled at cask strength 55%, 75 cl — exists as two bottles. One stays in The Macallan archive, never to be sold; the other went to Sotheby's with all proceeds to ChaShaMa, the New York arts non-profit, the lot carrying a signed booklet and a dinner for four at El Celler de Can Roca.

The Macallan Distillers Ltd has produced single malt on its 485-acre Speyside estate since 1824; the current distillery opened in 2018 on the same ground.

Launch pricing was published — US$4,200 for the 70 cl and US$4,500 for the 75 cl, £3,100 in the UK — which makes this the one chapter of the series with a documented reference point rather than a secondary-market guess.
