The distillery roasts a portion of its barley to the intensity used in brewing dark beer, then distils that malt through Scotland's tallest stills, which favour a light, high-toned spirit. That roasted-malt whisky is married with older stock, including whisky laid down more than thirty years ago when malting still happened at Tain, and matured in casks built to Glenmorangie's own specification from American white oak.
