Why is the 2020 William Larue Weller the highest-proof bottle in that year's collection?
The 2020 William Larue Weller is bottled uncut and unfiltered at 134.5 proof (67.25% ABV), the highest strength in the 2020 Antique Collection. It was distilled in the winter of 2008 and aged 12 years and 6 months in Warehouses I and C. The wheated spirit lost 73% of its volume to evaporation over aging.
What makes William Larue Weller different from the other bottles?
It is the only wheated bourbon in the collection, using wheat instead of rye as the secondary grain, and it is bottled at full barrel strength. The 2020 release shows soft caramel chew, spearmint, and cinnamon on the palate. It belongs to the same wheated recipe behind the Weller and Pappy Van Winkle lines.
