What award did the 2022 Eagle Rare 17 win?
The 2022 Eagle Rare 17 was named Taste Master and the overall winner of the 2023 American Whiskey Masters, run by The Spirits Business. It was distilled in the spring of 2005 and bottled at 101 proof. The barrels aged in Warehouses H, K, and L.
Why is Eagle Rare 17 bottled at 101 proof?
The 101 proof is a deliberate tribute to the original Eagle Rare brand, launched in 1975, and the expression is bottled at that strength every year. It uses Buffalo Trace's low-rye Mash Bill #1, the same recipe as George T. Stagg. Official notes for 2022 include chocolate-covered cherries, vanilla bean, and a butterscotch finish. This selection is managed under the Sazerac Company.
